The Ruth St. John & John Dunham West Foundation has challenged the Aurora
Health Foundation to raise $50,000 for the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association
(VNA) of Manitowoc County by Dec. 31, 2008. If we are successful, the West
Foundation will grant us an additional $50,000 – meaning $100,000 will be
available for Manitowoc residents in need of in-home care!
Every dollar raised will help bring Lifeline and MD.2 (Medication
Dispensing) services to those in Manitowoc County who cannot afford them.
These services are private-pay services – Medicare, Medicaid and most
insurance companies do not cover them. Yet, the services can be life saving.
There are currently over 100 people in Manitowoc County who do not have one
or both of these services because of their cost.
Lifeline
Lifeline is a medical alert service that helps
maintain independence and peace of mind for people of all ages. The cost of Lifeline for one person is $32 for one month, or $384 per
year.[ Learn more about
Lifeline ]
MD.2 (Medication Dispensing)
MD.2 helps people with complicated medication
regimens, mild memory impairments or dexterity issues to stay safer in their
homes by minimizing the risk of medication errors. The cost of MD.2 for one person is $69.95 per month, a total of $839.40
per year. [ Learn more

How you can help
The West Foundation has recognized Lifeline and MD.2 as significant needs
in our community. Their $50,000 commitment is a testament to their trust in
the Aurora Health Foundation and the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association to
deliver excellent health care.
The Aurora Health Foundation is dedicated to doing our part to ensure
Manitowoc County benefits from the West Foundation's offer, and we need your
help to be successful.
Your cash gift to the Aurora Health Foundation will not only contribute
to our match challenge, but it will bring two important services – along
with safety and peace of mind – to your neighbors so they can remain in
their homes.
